Amrita Arora's church wedding cancelled

The ceremony will take place at a restaurant in Bandra now

Amrita Arora is shattered! Yesterday her family got a call from the authorities at the Mt Mary Basilica stating that she couldn't have her grand church wedding there due to security issues.

The bride-to-be had invited 150 guests to her church wedding.

Says a family friend, "We were all shocked when we got a call from Amu saying her wedding at Mt Mary was cancelled because of lack of security arrangements.

Apparently, the church called up yesterday and told Amu's mother Joyce that the church was public property and they couldn't allow a private function on public property.

They said any uninvited person could come in and attend the wedding and her family would have to provide security arrangements and the church couldn't take responsibility. After much deliberation, they family decided to cancel the wedding at that venue."

Fortunately, Amrita and her family were prepared for this. "Apparently, the church had informed them earlier that this could happen and they were trying to work their way around it.

Though they wished it wasn't at the last moment, they will now go ahead with the wedding at Olive's in Bandra tomorrow morning at 11 am, followed by lunch at the same venue."

We tried to contact Father Neris Rodericks, the priest in charge of Mt Mary's Basilica but he wasn't available. When we called the office of the Mt Mary Basilica and spoke about our story a voice said, "No comments at all," and hurriedly disconnected.
