Star Wars: Aamir Khan vs SRK yet again

SRK and Aamir Khan are at it again. In his latest interview to Mumbai Mirror - Aamir states

"Now that his films are not doing well, SRK has lost his sense of humour."

The actor goes on react to Shah Rukh Khan claiming to be number one by saying

“I have never heard Amitabh Bachchan saying that he is No 1. People who are number one don't proclaim themsleves that they are number 1,” says Aamir.

Also reacting to some of Shah Rukh's recent statements against him Aamir states

"He has a great sense of humour but where does it all go when I say humorous things about him?.”

The Khans grab headlines whenever they decide to talk about each other. Whether it was Aamir Khan bloging about his dog named 'Shah Rukh' or when King Khan declared himself to be the biggest brand other actors want to associate with.

"You take the biggest brand in the country that is SRK and then use that platform to publicize yourself. I think Aamir rocks. The problem is that I cannot use another brand because there is no one bigger than me," SRK had said.

What started off as a harmless light sparring of words now seems to have snowballed into a full-fledged ugly Star War between two of Bollywood's best.

Jade Goody to spend final days with family

Things are not looking too good for reality TV star Jade Goody, but she's keeping a brave face. Jade who is battling cancer, left hospital on Wednesday after nearly two weeks to spend her final days with her family.

On Wednesday, a frail looking Jade left the West London Hospital after nearly two weeks and went home to be with her family. The 27-year-old is fighting advanced cervical cancer and wants to spend her final days with her husband, Jack Tweed and sons Freddie and Bobby.

"From what the docs are saying, whatever could be done has been done and now the the aim is to keep her pain to the minimum," said Jade's friend and publicist Max Clifford.

It was while appearing on Indian version of Big Brother called Big Boss 2 in August 208 that Jade's cancer was diagnosed. Although she cut short her India trip, her friend Max Clifford says that she feels she won some friends in India.

"She was keen too go to India and show to the people who she really is - that she is not a racist. She has friends there, Shilpa (Shilpa Shetty) is now a great supporter and friend to Jade," said Clifford.

Jade's fight with cancer has been captured by the media at every stage. She has spent the last year campaigning for various cancer chairites. She has also been raising funds through media interviews for her children's future. Her wedding and christening coverage was sold to a glossy magazine for £700,000.

This week, a private TV channel will air an intimate series on Jade's wedding to Jack Tweed, a deal that would secure her boys another £100,000.

The tabloids have been full of Jade's pictures, now looking visibly frail and weak.

While some believe that this has helped raise cancer awareness amongst young women, for others this is morbid media voyeurism.

Madonna, Ritchie settle children's custody deal

Pop diva Madonna and ex-husband Guy Ritchie have reached a deal in their custody battle finalising an agreement, which will see the couple's children living in America with their mother.

The couple's six-year marriage ended last year and they quickly thrashed out a settlement in British court, reportedly agreeing to share the care of their two children Rocco, 8, and adopted David, 3.

Madonna, who has left her home in England for New York, took the case to a court in the US, asking a judge to approve the deal and make the custody arrangements legal there.

Contactmusic.com reports, a hearing at Manhattan Supreme Court Wednesday saw the deal finalised that the pair's two children will remain in New York, with regular visits from their father. The kids will also spend time in Britain during school holidays.

Madonna's 13-year-old daughter, Lourdes, from a previous relationship, will also remain in New York with her mother.

Kids in Slumdog did the trick: Irrfan

The child actors in Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire were the ones who "did the trick" and "won the hearts of global audiences", says Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan, who played a prominent role in the movie.

"We never doubted that Slumdog Millionaire would get the Oscars. The minute we stepped on to the red carpet at the Kodak theatre they were shouting our names. The mood was, how could you not give this film the Oscars?

"Our producers Fox-Searchlight were really anxious. They got the Best Film Oscar after 40 years. I think the kids in Slumdog Millionaire did the trick. They won over the global audiences' hearts. We grown-up actors were the bonus," said Khan.

After the awards ceremony in Los Angeles, when Irrfan landed in Mumbai in the same flight as Oscar-winner Resul Pookutty, "we had no idea how many people were waiting for us until we were told it was difficult for us to step outside. We had to be whisked away in a police van," Irrfan recalled.

"I felt like the bridegroom at a baraat. It was so moving. The reception I got at the Mumbai airport was equal to any Oscar."

Irrfan has been selected by Forbes magazine as one of the six Bollywood faces that have made an impact in Hollywood.

"That was news to me, a really pleasant one. I've waited long for this recognition. I became a recognisable name abroad after The Namesake. But I wish it had happened after Warrior. In the truest sense it changed my life. It came at a time when I was losing heart regarding the roles coming my way. I was thinking of changing profession. I was quite bored. I became an actor to explore my emotions and go beyond the mundane like Dilip Kumar and Naseruddin Shah did. I wanted to experience something magical. Warrior gave me that chance."

Ash upset with Priyanka

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is a bit upset with fellow actor Priyanka Chopra, when she in her winning speech regarded Ash as beautiful but did not mention anything about her acting talent.

Priyanka, who won the Filmfare Best Actress award for Fashion said that she was very happy to be nominated (Fashion, Dostana) among the likes of beautiful Aishwarya Rai (Jodhaa Akbar) and the talented Kajol (U, Me Aur Hum).

Reports suggest that Priyanka's statement did not go well with Ash, who is a winner of many national and international awards.

Priyanka is currenlty riding high on the success of Fashion and Dostana. The actress will soon be seen in Vishal Bharadwaj's Kaminay opposite Shahid Kapur.

Imran refuses Pradeep Sarkar’s next

Director Pradeep Sarkar is having a tough time finding an actor for his next YRF film. It may be recalled that after the debacle of Laaga Chunri Mein Daag, Pradeep was to start another film for the YRF banner. However, according to industry sources, the director has been refused by not one, but two actors already.

Says our source, “Pradeep wanted to cast Imran Khan and then Shahid Kapur as the lead. Like all YRF films the subject of Pradeep’s film is also kept under wraps.”

There were reports of Pradeep approaching Vidya Balan and Abhishek Bachchan, but nothing materialised. When contacted Pradeep Sarkar said, “I am working on three scripts simultaneously and have not yet decided on which one I am going to make.” When asked if Imran and Shahid had said no to his film Pradeep replied, “I will decide on the lead cast once I zero in on the script.”

I avoid love and kiss scenes. I'm a married man

Sonu Sood has been cast as the male lead opposite Alexandra Maria Lara who plays the female lead opposite Tim Roth in legendary Godfather director Francis Ford Coppola's latest film Youth Without Youth.

This is the first time that an Indian actor gets to play the lead with sucha major Hollywood heroine.

Sonu Sood and his American co-star currently sharing extremely warm vibes in Dubai where they're shooting for Ali Mustafa's City Of Life.

The pair are said to have plenty of love-making scenes to do.

But Sood denies them. "After Sheesha where I had torrid scenes with Neha Dhupia I took a conscious decision to avoid love and smooching scenes. I'm a married man with a growing son who asks me questions.

I'd rather have a conservative image. I'm done with my wild days, " says Sood who before marriage had a series of colourful relationships incuding a much-publicized one with Southern star Simran.

Sood has apparently told the producers of his first English language film to keep his relationship with his American co-star chaste.A hard act to abandon after Alexandra's torrid act with Tim Roth in her first film.

Shooting in Dubai, there's a major communication problem between Sonu Sood and his American co-star Alexandria who play an Indian and Romanian respectively in Sood's first English-language film..

"But it's not actually an English-language film, " says Sood from Dubai."Because I play an Indian taxi driver and Alexandria plays Romanian. And we both speak in our respective languages in the film and communicate in broken English.'

Communication gaps are not alien to Sood. He has recently done a Telugu film with a co-star whom didn't follow a word of Hindi. The film is breaking records all over Andhra Pradesh.

"The leading lady Anushka and I had earlier starred in the Telugu version of Dhoom It was called Super and I played John Abraham's role. Now after Arundhati we're much in demand as a pair.I'd love to do the Hindi version of Arundhati."

Harry Potter fans not happy with new film

The latest Harry Potter film "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" is yet to be released but a few fans who saw a preview said they were not very happy.

The fans were particularly upset that main characters and key plot lines were erased. They also labelled some scenes as "pointless", reports thesun.co.uk.

There also doesn't seem to be much about the Half-Blood Prince himself and the film was dismissed as "soppy".

"The film is dominated by romance - Ron with Lavender Brown, Ginny with Dean Thomas, Hermione's growing love for Ron, Ron's potion-affected desire for Romilda Vane, and ultimately Harry and Ginny," said one fan.

"Anyone who has read the book will be severely disappointed," another lamented.

In this latest instalment, Harry is taught by Dumbledore to fight his arch nemesis Voldemort. The book features some important memories but the film features just two of these.

Shilpa Shetty to wed

Actress Shilpa Shetty will wed her long time beau Raj Kundra. It is now official that Raj proposed to Shilpa on the Valentine’s Day this year with a diamond ring. However, Shilpa gushed that the wedding will not take place before the end of this year. Shilpa said that the proposal popped up when she was not expecting it the least bit, but was happy to accept it right away.

The actress is currently busy with other commitments as she has expanded her business empire with a spa. Yet another reason for the star to celebrate was Raj Kundra’s decision to obtain a stake in Shilpa’s IPL cricket team.

Paa Goes on the Floors

The R Balki directed Paa, which stars Amitabh Bachchan and son Abhishek, along with Vidya Balan and Harman Baweja, went on the floors on March 2 in Mumbai. The film is co produced by AB Corp and Reliance Big Entertainment. The highlight of the film by the maker of Cheeni Kum, is a special look that is being donned by the Big B. According to reports, it takes the actor nothing less than four hours to finish his makeup and look for the movie. There is a special team of makeup specialists from LA, who have been appointed for the job.

Main Aur Mrs Khanna Set for a July 3 Release

Main Aur Mrs Khanna, which stars Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor, is ready and is most likely to release on July 3 all over. The film, which has been co produced by Sohail Khan Productions and UTV Spot Boy and directed by debutant Prem Soni, has been shot mainly in Australia with the remaining portions being shot in Mumbai. The film deals with the theme of marital infidelity. A not so publicized fact about the film is that Preity Zinta has done an item number in the movie.

Deepika Padukone goes on a break

Deepika Padukone doesn’t believe in being greedy and signing as many projects that she can to remain in the rat race, she is definitely a class apart. A committed professional that she is, Deepika recently completed all her assignments on hand that included shooting TV commercials for all the five brands she has on hand apart from her pending films. Now maintaining a low profile after the debacle of her last release, Chandni Chowk to China, Deepika has taken a much needed break before she begins her next film.

A close pal of Deepika revealed, “Deepika starts shooting for Farhan Akhtar starrer thriller Kartik Calling Kartik being produced by Farhan’s banner Excel Entertainment from April 4th. She has been working constantly for the last few months that included Saif Ali Khan’s home production Love Aaj Kal apart from CC2C. So now before she begins a long cycle of constant work again what with Farhan’s film and later Sajid Khan’s directorial next, Housefull with Akshay Kumar she wants to take some rest and recharge herself. She is not in a hurry to sign multiple projects right now and is happy having only these two films on her hand.”

While what she intends to do in this break may not be revealed, but one thing is sure, she may finally get to spend some quality time with boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor, who too incidentally be shooting in and around Mumbai during this time.

We aren’t poking fun at homosexuals like others

He ain’t no Sean Penn bringing a Harvey Milk alive on screen, but he is certainly ‘milking’ the opportunities coming his way. Even if that means playing a man grappling with his sexuality in a twisted love tale.

“A story like this hasn’t been told on Indian screen till date,” says actor Vinay Pathak of his new comedy, Straight — Pinu Patel Ki Tedhi Medhi Love Story. God, we’ve heard that a million times already. But he insists, “We aren’t poking fun at homosexuals like others.”

Making a statement in a keffiyeh and shades, he discusses male bonding during his recent visit to the Capital. “Till now, homosexuality was only discussed in passé. It was a comic relief. But with this film, we intend on questioning alternate orientation seriously,” he confides.

And that doesn’t deter him from trashing Bollywood’s sudden fascination with gaydom after the success of Dostana. “You know how Bollywood is. Everyone wants to cash in on it. Though my film is nothing like Milk, it doesn’t look down upon people with alternate sexuality either.”

Clinching a Parvathy Balagopalan (Straight…) film isn’t his only recent win. A Yash Raj fave after Aaja Nachle and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Vinay says he reads up at least 30 scripts a month. “I’m still all for change. I don’t know if I end up picking the films others reject, I just go by the storyline. But that doesn’t mean I’ll repeat a Bheja Fry or Dasvidaniya. I have to constantly challenge myself,” he says.

Talking about his skills as a producer, Vinay says, rather honestly, “I don’t understand the business tangent of movie making. That’s not my expertise. I can only make myself available for the creative inputs.”

For someone who’s climbed his way up from television, Vinay hasn’t done bad at all. After charming Madhuri Dixit (who he calls “such a doll”), he’s now doing a film called SRK, which has nothing to do with the superstar.

“It’s a film about a dreamer who doesn’t want to face the reality. Besides SRK, where I play a lazy bum, I have Mumbai Cutting, Pappu Can’t Dance Saala, Saurabh Shukla’s Raat Gayi Baat Gayi and Mumbai Chakachak in which I play an antagonist. I’m dead excited about it,” he concludes. So are we.

Salman versus Shahrukh – the chill continues

Once a foe always a foe’ is not exactly the code that Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan live by. They have fought in the past (on the sets of Chalte Chalte when Ash was breaking off from Sallu) but they made up at Farah Khan ’s wedding over four years back. New cracks appeared in their friendship last year when Sallu and SRK had a big fight at Katrina Kaif ’s birthday party. The two haven’t talked to each other since then.

So it was with bated expectation the media, and presumably the guests, too, waited when Salman and SRK attended the sangeet of actress Amrita Arora who got married to boyfriend Shakeel Ladak last week.

Of course, one did not expect SRK and Sallu to walk out arm-in-arm like some long lost buddies, but one did anticipate that either of the two would break the ice with the other, just like it happened at Farah Khan’s sangeet ceremony.

Alas! Such a reunion did not happen this time. Far from breaking the ice, the two stars did not even say ‘hi’ to each other and avoided each other like bad news. SRK stuck to a small group of his friends at the party while Salman chilled out with his buddies.

Later, SRK left the party alone while his wife Gauri Khan stayed back. Salman, too, walked out alone. When he was questioned by mediapersons whether he had patched up with SRK at the party, Sallu shot back: “Why do you care?”

Shocking:Abhishek held at ransom by journalist

If sources are to be believed, Abhishek Bachchan found himself at the mercy of a journalist on the sets of Ravana.

It so happened that a certain journalist from a prominent news channel trooped along to the sets of the Mani Ratnam film.

Mani is known for his tight security on the sets and the secrecy of his plots. Family members from his cast and crew are not allowed to entertain any guests; needless to say no media person is entertained while the filmmaker is at work either.

So when the scribe came along with his camera crew demanding an exclusive interview with Abhishek Bachchan, the fellow was shown the door.

Miffed, he got his sub-inspector friend along tried to get Abhishek Bachchan out for 'police interrogation'.

Salman's Veer in trouble again for hacking trees

It's a film which may help give Salman Khan that much needed hit but looks like the ambitious Veer is jinxed. For the second time in a row since they started shooting, Veer is in trouble, facing legal trouble even before it could see the light of day.

An FIR has now been registered against the film's producers and crew for illegally cutting down trees in Bikaner.

The complaint was filed by the pro-environment Bishnoi community who alleged crew members felled a Khejdi tree which is Rajasthan's state tree.

"The team cut down two or three trees without anybody's permission. Even the authorities turned us down when we approached them," says Shivraj Bishnoi of the Bishnoi community.

This incident comes barely 20 days after a mishap on the sets.

In February fans who came to watch their favourite star shoot at the Amer Fort near Jaipur had to pay dearly when the wall of the fort collapsed injuring 15 people including two camera persons.

A case was registered against the film's producer for damaging a historical monument and shooting was suspended for a week. The High Court had also ordered the producers to cough up Rs 20 lakh to pay for restoration work.

By the looks of it Veer will really need to have the courage to escape unscathed from the wrath of the court and Rajasthan's locals.

Sushmita vs SRK

Bollywood's newest cat-fighter is none other than former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen. The lady who was so far known for her beautiful smile and calm nature has recently taken to picking fights with all her co-stars.

This string of spats began with SRK. The duo fell out over the delay of Dulha Mil Gaya starring Sushmita. Sush must have been impatient for the film to release since this is the first time since the disastrous Ram Gopal Verma Ki Aag that Sush was to appear on screen.

Meanwhile, SRK has a completely different story - rumour has it that he got annoyed that his name was being used to promote the film even though he only has a guest appearance. After an argument, he walked out.

The other enemies on Sush's list are ex-beau Randeep Hooda and Suchitra Krishnamoorty. This one comes on the heels of Karma, Confessions and Holi. After falling out with Randeep, Sush decided that the steamy scenes in the film were 'sleazy' and she demanded they be edited out.

Sush also told producers she won't promote the film if Randeep is around. At this, a fuming Randeep said, "If you don t want to promote the film, don t promote it, but don t go out of your way to badmouth the film. It s highly unethical and absolutely unprofessional. I don t see any sleazy promotion. By not promoting the movie, she is promoting it even more so that just defeats her purpose. She encouraged me to be a part of the promotion before changing track."

Even co-star Suchitra Krishnamoorty, who acted opposite SRK in the award-winning Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, has drawn swords against Sushmita, calling her claims base-less. She said, "I object strongly to her statement calling Karma aur Holi undignified and defend my film -it has turned out very well and is a brave and ambitious venture-a genre in itself....Some of my major scenes from the script were cut off because Sushmita would insist on reshooting her scenes thereby wasting everybodys time money and good energy."

This is all bad 'karma' for Sush, and it seems she'll have to face a tough year, especially since her home production on Jhansi Ki Rani has been put on hold.

Amitabh avoids Rekha

It seems the alleged affair between Big B and Rekha will never stop haunting them, and there was evidence of this at the recent Filmfare awards.

The scene: the front row of the auditorium where all the A-list Bollywood stars were sitting. From the left, it was Priyanka Chopra , SRK , Abhishek , Aishwarya and then Big B himself.

Rekha appeared on the scene, and as is her custom, went on to meet everyone. She hugged and kissed each and every one of the stars sitting in the front row, including Abhishek.

She then went on to hug Ash, and all of a sudden, Big B, who was next in line, got up and walked away. This may have been a smart, though ultimately transparent, move, because propriety would have demanded that she acknowledge him.

Pictures from the event reveal that while Big B walked away just in time to avoid an incredibly awkward situation, he was intently watching Rekha in the minutes preceeding his abrupt walk-out.

Salman Khan replaces Aamir in Yash Raj’s next movie?

Though Mumbai tabloid recently reported about Salman being signed up as Aamir’s replacement for a Yash Raj banner film to be directed by Yash Chopra himself. Our sources within Yash Raj however suggest, Aamir’s film with the Yash Raj big daddy is still on and is in the pre-production planning stages. Salman however has been finalized for another project under the banner.

Sources further reveal, “Vijay Krishna Acharya writer of the Dhoom series who made his debut last year with YRF’s Tashan is making his second film with YRF. Salman Khan, R.Madhavan and Bhojpuri superstar Ravi Kishen are the male leads finalized for the same while the female leads are yet to be finalized. The film is supposedly a whacky action comedy that will go on floors in the second half of 2009.”

There had been reports earlier suggesting both Salman and Yash Raj head honcho, Aditya Chopra having problems about working with each other and the hot headed Khan after having been denied entry for his vanity van in the YRF studios compound had vowed never to come back there. A close pal of Salman however tells us, “Salman was the first actor to be approached for Chak De India! But while he loved the script he had suggested changes in the film’s climax. He wanted the final match of the hockey tournament be played between India and Pakistan. He felt that then story would come full circle. But Adi didn’t budge and both parted ways amicably. Shah Rukh Khan was then signed on for the role. But Salman is now looking forward to the YRF project being written and directed by Victor (Acharya)."

7 year old mother, 39 year old son - The Bollywood age game continues

Does age matter in Bollywood? Perhaps yes when it comes to a female applying for the position of a leading heroine. However, the moment she is willing to get into a saree and play an on-screen mom to a man who could be a few years junior or the same age or perhaps even a senior, all doors open up! After all it is nice to have a glamorous mother around on the silver screen. Joginder Tuteja takes readers down the memory lane and picks up a few examples of mother-son, father-son or mother-daughter pairing where age didn't really matter!

13B

This isn't exactly a tale from the past. In fact this is something that has happened just this week as Poonam Dhillon made a comeback of sorts and is playing mother to Madhavan a.k.a. Maddy. Well, give us such a glamorous on-screen mother anytime, especially so when the mother and son are distanced just 8 years apart! That's true, because while Maddy is 39 years old, Poonam Dhillon is only 47 herself!

Kylie Minogue refuses to meet Shah Rukh

Australian pop sensation, Kylie Minogue was in India for just a week but she has ruffled quite a few feathers. The latest is that she refused to meet superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

After the rousing welcome given to Kylie in India, she soaked in the attention, but only for a while. In India, to shoot a song for Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd.'s Blue, in which she has also sung a number, Kylie has disappointed and even enraged many of her Indian fans by outright refusing to meet them. Sensing the hordes of visitors that she would receive and to avoid any disturbance on the sets, Kylie insisted on having a 'No Entry' sign put up on the sets of Blue, to discourage people from flocking to the sets.

A source close to the production house said, “Kylie and her manager have ruffled quite a few feathers in Bollywood. After Kylie laid a condition that no visitor would be allowed on the sets while she was shooting, including the families of the co-actors, she meant even the Bollywood fraternity.

After reading an interview of Kylie, which mentioned Shah Rukh Khan’s Om Shanti Om as one of her favourite Bollywood films, Shah Rukh’s office got in touch with Kylie, expressing the superstar’s desire to meet her. However, Kylie flatly refused to meet Shah Rukh on the film sets. Kylie’s manager instead conveyed to Shah Rukh that the meeting could only happen at the completion party of the film, which happened last night. This is not the first time that Kylie has snubbed a Bollywood star. Earlier, even Anusha Dandekar, who had gone with Zayed Khan, was denied entry on the sets by Kylie’s security.”

Meanwhile, the much-publicised party to be hosted by Sanjay Dutt did not happen. The source added, “Sanjay Dutt and his business manager had announced that they would be hosting a party for Kylie. But Kylie was never informed about any such party and was not even aware of it. Kylie left the country last night and the party never happened.”

Slumdog kids floor Meryl Streep, Brad Pitt

Hollywood stars like Meryl Streep (pics) and Brad Pitt (pics) were floored by the little kids who featured in Danny Boyle's Oscar winning Slumdog Millionaire, says Loveleen Tandon, the film's co-director.

Rubina Ali, Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail and Tanay Cheda were the cynosure of all eyes at the Oscars ceremony last week. Streep, mother of four in real life, simply smothered the children in genuine affection.

"That inner beauty which poets talk about... I saw it for the first time on Meryl's face. She's the most fantastic actress and the most gorgeous woman I've set my eyes on. And now after seeing how she conducted herself with the kids, I'd say she's the epitome of grace," Tandon said.

"One of our kids Tanay, who played the little Jamal, is very clued into the Hollywood-Oscars crowds. He had his autograph book out and ready for Meryl. When Tanay asked her for an autograph, Meryl turned around and said, 'Why just you? I'm going to give my autograph to all you adorable kids.'"

"She signed her name over and handed them over to the kids with such grace and warmth. I guess that's what legends are made of. Such beauty," Tandon said.

Brad Pitt was another star whose amazement at the little wonders from Slumdog Millionaire couldn't be hidden.

"When we were walking up to the stage Anil Kapoor, Irrfan Khan and all had already gone up. I got left a little behind making sure that all the kids were walking up. That's when Brad Pitt saw us. The moment he saw the kids, he stood up from his seat and kept looking at them, smiling and clapping until we walked all the way to the stage.

"The kids created magic that evening... Never in my wildest dreams did I think that those kids would one day not just walk the red carpet with Meryl and Brad, they would also make fans out of these Hollywood giants," said Tandon.

Although Tanay was familiar with Hollwyood stars, Rubina and Azharuddin had no idea who Streep was when they walked past her on the Oscar red carpet. It was Tandon who had to explain to them the magnitude of the glam parade.

"Each time the paparazzi and bystanders would start clicking and cheering the kids would turn to me and say, 'Yeh star hain? (are they stars?)' And I'd say, 'Hain. Lekin tumhare jaise itne bade star nahin (Yes, they are stars but not as big as you).' The biggest Hollywood stars walked up to our kids to congratulate them," said Tandon.

Slumdog Millionaire triumphed at the Oscars by winning eight golden statuettes.

CC2C grosses Biggest Box Office takings in first Quarter of 2009

Bollywood Golden Boy, Akshay Kumar, has turned up trumps at the International Box Office once again, as the much-hyped ‘Chandni Chowk to China’ has grossed the most takings in the first quarter of 2009, compared to all other major Bollywood film releases of the year thus far.

‘Chandni Chowk to China’ has broken $13,437,918 (£9,540,355.93) in the first quarter of 2009, compared to only $8,154,609 (£5,785,593.79) taken by Shah Rukh Khan starrer, ‘Billo Barber’.

‘Chandni Chowk to China’ marked Warner Bros. Pictures’ first ever Bollywood production and brought together two world superpowers - India and China – on one cinematic canvas, with filming taking place at locations such as the Forbidden City and Great Wall of China.

Aishwarya-Akshay - A Comeback Vehicle

Vipul Shah's much talked about project stars the newly crowned King of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar, and the gem of an actress, Aishwarya Rai. The film is making news these days, however, for more reasons than just its exciting lead pair.

Word is that Karisma and Kareena Kapoor's father, Mr Randhir Kapoor, is being cast in the role of a scientist in the film. Randhir, you may recall, last appeared on screen in Honey Irani's Armaan in which he essayed the role of Preity Zinta's father. Vipul Shah, who is a huge fan of both Mr Rishi and Randhir Kapoor, had his dream come true for Namastay London in which he worked with Rishi Kapoor. Now he's got his eyes set on Randhir.

The director spoke to Mid-Day about the character that Randhir has been cast in and clarified that the audiences should not expect the classic mad scientist but instead one who's rather calm and forever lost in his own strange world.
